What is Whole Hemp Rosin? A Chat with Montkush

Whole hemp rosin is a powerful concentrate made from low-THC hemp plants. Uniquely, these products preserve the whole plant’s original healing compounds without using chemical solvents. Unfortunately, commercial rosin production is scarce, and most consumers are unaware of the incredible benefits. However, health-conscious brands like Montkush are setting a new precedent, creating potent, chemical-free hemp rosin formulas to address today’s pressing therapeutic needs.

We sat down with Montkush CEO Daniel O. Sinor to learn about whole hemp rosin and its powerful healing potential.

What is Whole Hemp Rosin?

Whole hemp rosin is a type of low-THC cannabis concentrate made by applying low heat and high pressure to the hemp plant's flowers, leaves, and stems. This process extracts the resinous trichomes from the plant material containing the healing cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds.

Whole hemp rosin is not psychoactive, nor does it have added compounds like delta-8 or delta-10

Unlike other cannabis concentrates, such as BHO (butane hash oil), whole hemp rosin is made without solvents or chemicals. This solventless process makes rosin a more natural and pristine concentrate, typically with a higher concentration of natural cannabinoids and terpenes. For example, Montkush’s rosin extract retains high levels of CBDA, the potent therapeutic precursor to CBD that rarely appears in chemical extracts.

Whole hemp rosin is known for its effective therapeutic benefits, including pain relief, relaxation, spasm relief, and improved mood.

Benefits of Whole Hemp Rosin

Whole hemp rosin, or freshly pressed rosin, offers many benefits stemming from its full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes. Rosin concentrates deliver a powerful entourage effect, where the plant’s complete chemical compounds synergize to maximize therapeutic outcomes for issues ranging from anxiety to spasms.

Unlike concentrates that contain specific compounds like CBD, CBG, or CBN, rosin retains all the natural goodness of the hemp plant. This includes the plant’s acidic cannabinoid precursors like CBDA and CBGA

“This commitment to preserving the plant's entirety is evident in our comprehensive lab results, validating the presence of every valuable component,” said Daniel.

Monkush’s customers report positive effects on:

  • Sleep
  • Pain
  • Nausea
  • Anxiety

From Daniel’s perspective, embracing whole hemp rosin means embracing a holistic experience, making it an ideal choice for those seeking hemp’s full therapeutic potential.

How is Whole Hemp Rosin Produced?

At Monkush, the hemp rosin production process starts by cutting and drying organic hemp flowers.

Once ready, the flowers are pressed at normal room temperature using a massive 200-ton Sasquash Press, one of the largest in the country.  Each press yields approximately 150 grams of hemp rosin extract from one kilo of flower.

Daniel describes the process as “magical,” creating a captivating and enchanting sight. Rosin production, shown in the video below, showcases the beauty and precision of creating golden, gooey rosin extract from high-quality flowers.

Top Products & Therapeutic Uses

Whole hemp rosin is a versatile concentrate that can be used in various ways, including:

Vaporizing: Vaporizing involves heating the concentrate and inhaling the vapor. Vaporizing is a more discreet and convenient way to consume whole hemp rosin, as it doesn't produce as much odor as dabbing.

Edibles: Whole hemp rosin can be added to food or drinks to create edibles. This method of consumption provides a longer-lasting and more gradual effect, as the concentrate is absorbed through the digestive system.

Softgels: Hemp softgels are a type of dietary supplement that contains extract in a convenient and easy-to-swallow form.

Topicals: Whole hemp rosin can be infused into topicals, such as creams, balms, and salves. When applied to the skin, topicals can provide localized relief for pain, inflammation, and other skin conditions.

Tinctures: Whole hemp rosin can be dissolved in alcohol or oil to create tinctures. Tinctures are a convenient and discreet way to consume whole hemp rosin, as they can be taken orally or added to food or drinks.

Amongst these methods, Daniel sees the lowest demand for topicals and the highest interest in tinctures. In particular, Montkush’s raw CBDA tincture has garnered the most consumer reviews.

Mark S’s testimonial below mimics many similar Montkush reviews:

“I have only been using this for a week, but I can already notice my knee joints starting to hurt less. I have less pain and increased mobility. Can't wait to see how far this will go.”

Montkush’s rosin gummies and soft gels are also popular, especially the 15 mg rosin CBDA gummies.

“They taste great, and you can really feel the effects. The rosin gummies are one of my favorite products that we make,” said Daniel.

Challenges and Misconceptions

People who know about whole hemp rosin generally prefer its purity, potency, and complete spectrum profile to other less natural products. The problem is most patients and consumers have never heard of rosin.

“Most people don’t know the difference between rosin and other hemp products. They see all these bottles and think every product is the same. So we spend significant time and money educating consumers on why Montkush is different,” said Daniel.

Misconception 1:

Most people don’t know that typical hemp-derived products like CBD and CBG oils come from solvent-based extraction methods. Processors use chemicals like CO2 (carbon dioxide) and butane to create these products, extracting single compounds from the plant and potentially leaving residual solvents behind. They also use high heat, eliminating the plant’s delicate yet critical components like CBDA. Many standard extracts also contain non-hemp additives like botanical terpenes from lemons or semi-synthetic cannabinoids like delta-8.

Whole hemp rosin concentrates are undoubtedly the most natural option, preserving the plant’s innate chemical profile without any outside components.

Misconception 2:

Most people think CBD is hemp’s most effective non-psychoactive compound for sleep, pain, anxiety, and tremors. Even Montkush’s founder Anthony Sullivan thought the same before he started farming hemp. Sullivan, a popular TV pitchman, just wanted a clean product to give to his 8-reality daughter, who suffered from seizures.

In reality, CBD is only one of many games in town. Research shows that CBDA, the chemical precursor to CBD, could be a thousand times more powerful in binding to a receptor linked with anti-nausea and anti-anxiety effects. CBDA could also be a more effective anti-inflammatory agent with significant epilepsy treatment potential.

Anthony and his team never set out to create CBDA. But when they tested the rosin, they discovered that CBDA was the formula’s unexpected show-stopping ingredient. Combined with the plant’s complete chemical profile, CBDA helped free Anthony’s daughter from her debilitating symptoms.

How to Choose High-Quality Whole Hemp Rosin

Whole hemp rosin products are generally pure and safe to consume. However, consumers should still consider several factors before choosing a brand.

Transparency: Consumers should always check product labels and verify the claims against the product’s third-party laboratory results. Featured on the Certificate of Analysis (COA), lab results provide potency information and confirm the product is free from contaminants like pesticides and heavy metals. Consumers can check for COAs from a product’s QR code or the company’s website.

Whole-plant extracts vs isolates: Some hemp extracts are isolates, meaning they contain only one compound. According to Daniel, consumers should seek whole-plant, full-spectrum extracts to capitalize on the plant’s entire lineup of healing components. COAs will verify the product’s cannabinoid content.

Hemp Source: The quality of the hemp used to make the rosin is crucial to the overall quality of the product. Consumers should look for brands like Montkush that use organic, non-GMO hemp grown in nutrient-rich soil without pesticides or other harmful chemicals.

Bottom Line

Commercial rosin production is relatively scarce despite its remarkable benefits, and many people are unaware of its potential. Fortunately, health-conscious brands like Montkush are leading the way in educating consumers about chemical-free hemp concentrates. As awareness grows, the demand for whole hemp rosin extracts is bound to soar, and more individuals will unlock the incredible power of this natural and potent remedy.
