We use Ultra High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with Ultraviolet Detectors to safely test samples at room temperature without heat. Concentrates Contaminant Testing:

ACS tests cannabis concentrates for dangerous pesticides, molds, mildew, heavy metals and mycotoxins. In order to validate safety, each lab result is labeled as pass or fail, making it easy to know if a product has reached the maximum allowed limit for each toxin.


Am I required by law to test for all of the above contaminants?

Guidelines for lab testing vary from state to state, but quality testing is no longer an option for companies that wish to compete in today’s increasingly regulated and consumer-driven marketplace. 

The state of Florida requires both medical marijuana and hemp products to be tested for safety with a DEA-certified laboratory like ACS. But when it comes to medical marijuana, additional testing is required before products like THC concentrates can be dispensed to patients.

At ACS Laboratory, we test concentrates including wax, rosin, live resin, shatter, batter and dabs to reveal the compounds that create their flavor, fragrance, therapeutic profile and potential psychoactive effects. Beyond THC & CBD, we can determine the potency of up to 15 additional cannabinoids like CBDA, CBN, CBG and THCA. Additionally, we recommend clients select R&D panels specific to their product type.

Terpenes are aromatic organic compounds that work with cannabinoids to produce the overall physiological effect. When brands know what terpenes their product contains along with the corresponding concentration levels, they can educate consumers on the product’s unique benefits. 

Flavonoids are responsible for bright, non-green pigments in cannabis that also synergistically produce an array of therapeutic benefits. ACS is one of the only laboratories capable of testing these compounds, which can give brands a key advantage in marketing their products.

Shelf life & stability determines the ideal number of days the product remains stable. While third-party laboratory testing is not legally required, all labels must contain printed expiration dates to indicate how long a product can last before losing potency. Thus, the best way for a manufacturer to determine the expiration is to submit samples for shelf life and stability testing.
